PhD and postdoc positions are open in the Cai Lab, part of the Tech4Health Institute at New York University Grossman School of Medicine (NYUGSOM, ranked # 2 in US medical schools by ‘U.S. News & World Report’ 2021). Postdocs will receive competitive stipends, benefits (health insurance, university housing, etc.), and PhD students will be fully funded. We are also open to PhD applicants in Biomedical Engineering at NYU Tandon School of Engineering.
The Cai lab build new paradigms of nanotechnology that will advance basic biomedical discovery and clinical care, such as nano-engineered cell interfaces for mechanobiology and optical metasurfaces for imaging/sensing. Our recent publications include: Nature Nanotechnology, 2018, 13, 610. Nature Materials, 2019, 18, 1366. npj Computational Materials, 2020, 6, 116. Advanced Materials, 2021, 33, 2005275.
The Tech4Health Institute serves as a hub for the development of new enabling technologies for biological and biomedical applications, in collaboration with biologists, clinicians at NYUGSOM, and scientists from worldwide prestigious institutions. The institute is located in the NYU Langone Health superblock in midtown Manhattan. Immersed in the unique vibrant and innovative environment of the New York City, and one of the foremost medical schools in the world, this is an ideal place to develop engineering technologies to improve human health, a mission never more relevant than today. 【具体要求】
Multiple research projects in the areas related to metasurfaces and nanophotonics, biosensors, cell mechanobiology, immunology, origami/kirigamitechnology, etc. are available. Candidates must have degrees in engineering, physics, chemistry, materials science or other related fields. For postdoc positions, one or more of the following backgrounds are preferred:metasurfaces, nanophotonics and nanofabrication (hands-on cleanroom experience, e.g., Si-based devices), biomolecules (DNA origami, supported lipid bilayer), soft materials (hydrogel, liquid crystal elastomer), optics (micro-optical system, laser, fiber). We seek candidates who are strongly motivated, open-minded, and capable of both independent and collaborative research work. Demonstrated ingenuity, productivity, communication and writing skills, and an excellent record of publications is preferred.
