Position Description:

The current recruitment is seeking a self-motivated scientist to work on a tumorigenesis-related project using in vitro and in vivo systems. This is a joint position with two laboratories: Dr. Leping Li in the Biostatistics and Computational Biology Branch and Dr. Xiaoling Li in the Signal Transduction Laboratory. Dr. Leping Li’s lab specializes in data mining and bioinformaticsanalysis. The lab develops computational/statistical methods to mine large-scale genomic data and generate testable hypotheses. Historically a “dry” lab, the lab incorporated a wet-lab component in 2016. Dr. Xiaoling Li’s lab is a traditional “wet” lab that studies signal transduction in the context of metabolic homeostasis, developmental biology, and tumorigenesis through molecular and genetic approaches in mouse and cultured cell systems. The main project for this position will be to investigate the roles of one such candidate gene, which was generated from data mining, in tissue regeneration, tumorigenesis and cancer progression. The lab has acquired a null mouse model for the candidate gene and demonstrated that this gene deficiency is associated with tumor progression. Flow cytometry analysis of immune cells in tumors suggests that the deficiency affects immune cell proportions in tumors. We are seeking an individual to join this exciting research project.

Qualifications :

Applicants must have a doctoral degree in molecular biology, immunology, cancer biology, or related area with less than five years of postdoctoral research experience. Experience with basic molecular and biochemical techniques, mouse animals, cell culture, CRISPR technology, and next- generation sequencing is preferred.
